Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes
At Cooper's New England Martial Arts, we offer Mixed Martial Arts for those who are interested modern martial arts. Our Mixed Martial Arts class offers variety of different training and techniques. From a standup positions to ground fighting, we takes different elements from various martial arts such as Muay Thai, Jujitsu and Valetudo to help our students become more well rounded fighters.
Our MMA students will benefit
from learning the various styles of Martial Arts that will lead them to
become physically stronger and become a well rounded fighters. With a
mix of traditional as well as modern Martial Arts combined, there is
never a shortage of techniques or training methods in our classes.

Jujitsu & Combat Judo
|

|
As part of the MMA class, we exercise some
stand up defense and ground defense. These elements are taken from
Jujitsu and Combat Judo.
While Jujitsu specialize in ground defense / grappling, Combat Judo is specific to stand up defense. These
techniques together will fill the gap between stand up and ground
fighting. Training includes how to take your opponent down from a stand
up positions as well as learning how to counter a take down. Take down utilizes leverage and does not use strength.

Muay Thai Kickboxing |

Muay Tai offers practical yet very effective standup fighting techniques. Training consist of low shin kicks, knee strikes, elbow strikes, punches, sweep kicks and blocking system. We
use heavy bags, body shields, focus paddles as well as partnering up
and practicing kicking drills or sparring each other to enhance our
performance.
We include Shin Conditioning training once a month.
Muay Thai originated from Thailand
and has become very popular style in United States. Advanced
techniques includes jumping elbow strikes, jumping knee strikes, etc.
This is a fun style and a very effective striking system.

Valetudo |

|
Valetudo includes elements of shoot fight and ground offense which includes
ground and pound, positioning, suppressing the opponent, joint
manipulation, locks and ground control.
The term "Valetudo"
literally means "Anything Goes". This style originated from Brazil in
1950 and is very popular style here in the United States and is
considered Modern Martial Arts.
